Owner Builder Information

If you are selling a property on which works have been carried out by you as an Owner Builder you are required to provide additional information in the sale documents before an offer can be accepted. This applies to all permits issued to you as an Owner Builder even if the works were actually carried out by a registered builder. Failure to comply with the relevant legislation puts you at risk of having a purchaser cancel a contract at any time prior to settlement, leaving you still liable for agent’s commission and legal fees and potentially on the hook for your concurrent purchase transaction. There are also statutory penalties that may be applied for failure to comply. When providing instructions please let us know about any owner builder works.
